At the third time of asking this season, Hayes & Yeading United came away from York Road with a victory and three important league points as a late James Mulley goal deservedly stole the points from the Magpies.

Staf gives chaseThe visitors were quickly out of the blocks as Staforde Palmer, in for the suspended Josh Scott, flicked on a long Preddie punt which led to a Will Hendry shot being half blocked to keeper Ramos with just 46 seconds played.

The Magpies began to come forwards as the game progressed, on 12 minutes an Ashley Smith free-kick found the head of former Hayes striker John Hastings who headed weakly to Preddie and just a few minutes later Serge Makofo found Manny Williams on the edge of the area but he fired over the bar from 18 yards.Matchwinner Mulley closes in

Hayes & Yeading came back at the home side almost instantly with the impressive Mulley twice creating openings that his teammates failed to accept. Firstly his deep cross found Chris Arthur who controlled the high ball into Hendry's path but his effort was high and wide and shortly afterwards Mulley worked space before finding Kieran Knight who chested to Charlie Mapes but his shot also failed to trouble Ramos.

On the half hour mark Preddie had to make what was to be his only real save of the game. Wes Daly pumped a free-kick into the box that was met perfectly by Magpies skipper Dominic Sterling but was well held by the diving United stopper. Play almost immediately switched ends as Mulley turned past his marker on halfway before lofting the ball over the home defence into the run of Hendry, the midfielder touching the ball past Ramos but wide left him with an almost impossible angle for his shot that was stopped inside the six yard box by mark Nisbet before Ramos dived on it.

Knight under challengeFive minutes before the break the Hayes & Yeading were awarded a spot kick when Dwane Lee shoved the incoming Hendry in the box, sadly for the visitors the scoresheet remained blank as Knight's kick came out off the inside of the upright and was cleared.

As the half drew to a close Preddie had to stretch to catch a Daly header from all of 18 yards and then the referee signalled for half-time.

The opening minutes of the second period saw Knight get his head to a Sterling shot and deflect it wide of the target before Ramos twice denied the lively Palmer. His first effort was well blocked away by the diving Magpies keeper and then when the ball returned to Mapes he slipped Palmer in again but this time amos blocked with his trailing leg.Delroy celebrates the Delroy way

Substitute Liam Collins twice tested Ramos from distance and Preddie was on hand at the other end to comfortably gather a Smith effort before the deadlock was finally broken on 76 minutes. Mapes advanced from midfield and played an inch perfect throughball that Mulley ran onto and struck past Ramos low into the bottom corner much to the joy of the travelling support.

As the game reached 90 minutes some sublime skill by Hendry on the left bye-line saw him cut the ball back to Palmer who could not keep his effort down and therefore failed to trouble Ramos. The home sides last hope came in the sixth minute of stoppage time when substitute Gavin James lofted a speculative shot from the edge of the area that everybody in red around the ground was happy to see nestle in the Magpies supporters behind the goal.
