Woking Whites 2

A young Hayes & Yeading United side made up almost entirely of first years were given quite a lesson by a well drilled Woking outfit. But while The Cards’ youngsters eventually eased to victory, they were made to work all the way by an enthusiastic United side.

United started strongly. Josh Andrew and Jake Lovell combined well on the right to set up Nathan Davidson but the visiting keeper smothered the ball before the striker could pounce. Then direct from a free kick, George Wooden struck the ball well only for the keeper to position himself well behind the shot.

Woking took the lead in the 19 th minute with a very neat passing move which sliced through the United defence, a right wing cross being headed back across Matthew Faley and just inside the post.

Mohammed Bashley followed up an impressive Allied Counties League debut on Monday with a fine performance, this time in the middle of midfield and it was his pass to Hasib Saeem which almost got United level, but Saeed fired wide of the far post. The only second year on show, Dominc McAuley was just as productive, but his ambitious long range shooting was twice just off target.

Woking successfully snuffed out the United attack for long periods of the second half although they were also held at bay by a stoic United defence. However, they did double their lead towards the end when a firm shot cannoned back off the cross bar only to be converted on the rebound.
