Hayes & Yeading United 5
Northwood 0

Hayes & Yeading’s under 18s eased into the 2 nd Qualifying Round of this year’s FA Youth Cup with a comprehensive 5-0 win over local rivals Northwood at Park Farm on Monday evening.

United got off to the perfect start after just 6 minutes when Max Hubbard played the ball through to Isaac Osei-Tutu who took a couple of paces to the edge of the area before firing low past Max Easton into the bottom corner of the Northwood net.

Six minutes later United went close to a second when Osei-Tutu ran at defender Isaac Alawode, the Woods man winning the tackle but the ball went straight to Aaron Harriott who fired narrowly wide from a tight angle.

Number two was only a few minutes away though as Aristede Bassele ran onto a throughball giving a clean pair of heals to Harry Wright before sliding the ball past an unprotected Easton.

Two was quickly three as in the 21st minute Bassele collected a clearance and sent Harriott through the middle, the United striker holding off Michael Uche before sliding the ball confidently past Easton.

The attacks from United kept coming and while it was not all one way traffic, the visitors were limited to shots from distance that were either well off target of easily dealt with by Luke Daley in the United goal. Osei-Tutu was denied a second by a well timed block by Easton with the loose ball spinning wide of the target and then seconds later Easton made an even better save to deny Leonel da Goma from close range after Bassele headed a Hubbard free-kick back into the mix in front of goal.

Six minutes before the break Northwood gave Daley a scare for the only time in the half when a goalward burst by Lamin Cole saw him fire a shot inches wide of the near post. Two minutes later came the goal of the game and again it was to the home side. Hubbard’s cross from the left was controlled on the chest of Bassele who then hit a first time left foot volley that flew across Easton into the far top corner of the Woods goal.

Hayes & Yeading were not yet ready for the break as a fifth soon arrived courtesy of a second from Osei-Tutu who outpaced Louis Judge to reach a Harriott flick on before sliding the ball past Easton from ten yards out.

With the game already won United seemed to ease off a little in the second half and the visitors finally mustered something as an attacking force. Nathan Henry soon went close but his shot dipped over as did substitute Peter James just after the hour mark.

Midway through the second half though it was Hayes & Yeading who went close to finding a sixth when Ryan Simpson’s deep corner was headed back from beyond the far post by Adam Butler to Bassele but his shot was pushed over at point blank range by Easton. The subsequent corner was met by skipper Jeffrey Kimoto but his header was too high to trouble the Northwood goal.

Northwood should have grabbed themselves a consolation in the 77th minute when a long punt was flicked on by Henry, Butler for once missed his clearance and Jack Hutchinson was through against the on-coming Daley. Despite the Woods man getting to the ball first his lob sailed over the top.

Simpson saw a shot go across the Woods goal and wide before Harriott went closer with a 20 yard free-kick that deflected off the wall, hit the inside of the post and went straight into Easton’s grateful arms.

It was fully 90 minutes before Daley had a real save to make and he did well to maintain his 100% clean sheet record at Park Farm as he blocked a Hutchinson shot away at point blank range after the Northwood midfielder had squirmed his way into the six yard box, Elliott Legg completed the clearance by hacking the loose ball to safety.
