HYUFC Hayes & Yeading Utd 6
Ashford Town (Mdx) 1
Hayes and Yeading United's under 18 side continued their fine form with an outstanding win over Ashford Town (Middlesex) despite Oneal Rowe's sending off in the second half.

United probed in the opening stages but had to wait until the 9th minute to work the Ashford keeper, Nathaniel Mensah advancing at pace before firing a shot which Tom Brown tipped around the far post. A couple of minutes later, Gil Cravid's far post corner almost deceived Brown who fumbled it but then recovered the ball down on the goal line. The visitors went close from their own corner as Jared Fountain headed Ajay Dass's deep centre goalwards but Tyler Wootton held on.

Despite this, it was United who continued to look more dangerous and Arti Krasniqi played a one two with Jalon Rowe but had his shot deflected over by the lunging Dan Barrett. Ashford responded as Fountain found Alex Holehouse and Wootton needed to stretch high to tip his attempted lob behind. The resulting corner brought about the first goal, but it was United who struck as a lightning quick counter attack saw Mensah sprint powerfully down the left flank before lofting a beautiful shot with the outside of his foot beyond the helpless Brown.

It wasn't long before the lead was doubled with a far more straightforward finish from Prince Mbengiu after more good wing play from Jalon Rowe. However, there were subsequent warnings to be on their guard as Oneal Rowe applied a last ditch deflection to divert Dass's goalbound shot wide and from the resulting corner, the ball wasn't cleared and Fountain fired wide from right in front of goal.

United recovered to resume control. Both Mensah and Taofiq Olomowewe had close range shots blocked in quick succession before half time and straight away after the break, Mbengiu hit the post and Mensah's follow up was blocked. When the ball was played back into the danger area, Brown was sharply off his line to deflect Jalon Rowe's shot just wide. Mbengiu was unlucky soon afterwards, when his goalbound shot was hooked off the line by Tobi Olobukon.

United's cause was made harder on the hour with what seemed like an extremely harsh verdict to send Oneal Rowe off for denying an obvious goal scoring opportunity, even though the free kick was a long way from goal and Edmond Umoh didn't appear to be heading towards goal with control of the ball. However, the response was positive and his brother Jalon extended the lead straight away seizing on a misplaced clearance from Brown to lob the ball back over his head and in.

Impressively, it became 4-0 when Jalon Rowe squared the ball to Olomowewe who had been up for a free kick and he finished with a composed side foot into the bottom corner. However Ashford reduced the areas when Umoh ran into the box and teed up Fountain for a tap in.

Jack Carriere went close with a shot over the bar after Fawaz Olikotu-Thompson's cross drifted all across the area, but a fifth wasn't far away as Mensah got between keeper and defender and applied a fine finish inside the far post.

Krasniqi almost marked an excellent performance at left back with a fine finish but his 20 yarder from the corner of the area just dipped over the bar. However, in stoppage time, Mensah sealed the man of the match award by completing his hat-trick, with a finish which went in under Brown's body.
