Woking put paid to newly crowned Ryman League West champions Hayes and Yeading United's unbeaten league record with a single goal victory, just reward for a committed and spirited performance.

The first attack of note took a while coming. It fell to United, as Shariff Wilson rode a challenge on the right hand side but had his shot blocked. The loose ball spun into Keith Orenuga's path but he shot straight at Woking keeper, Alex Harris. The same pair combined again a while later, with Wilson this time taking the shot, but again it was too close to Harris.

Woking had their first attempt soon afterwards, from a corner which Matt Szepietowski headed down, creating quite a scramble until Tyler Wootton took control. However, the first half was played mainly with United in possession, but finding the hosts resolute in defence. When Wilson did spring the offside trap and lay the ball off to Jalon Rowe, his cut back found Orenuga and Harris did well to tip the ball past the post. Jalon Rowe's resulting corner just evaded the on rushing Taofiq Olomowewe with the goal at his mercy.

Harris again produced a smart save from Jalon Rowe's close range shot before a swift breakaway by Szepietowski threatened United's goal again, only for the Cards' forward to drag his shot wide right. Their best chance fell just before half-time, as Charlie Carter worked some space in the area before firing high and wide from a good position.

Two minutes after the break, Kane Mason played a superb long pass to Nathaniel Mensah, but his shot was blocked bravely by Warren Gibson. However, United were almost undone by a quick throw-in by Cordell Lawrence which put Mason Turner behind the back line and he cut inside before shooting. Wootton spread himself well to kick the ball away with his right foot.

On 56 minutes, Mensah crossed for substitute Prince Mbengiu but he mistimed his header sending the ball on a looping trajectory which was easy for Harris to catch. He was tested more by Pierre Amichice's long range effort five minutes afterwards but was still able to catch it on the full.

Woking enjoyed a decent spell of pressure midway through the half. Myles Henry went on a marauding run from his right back position before unleashing a firm shot which Wootton blocked. Then Wootton was again alert to shut down Carter's space when the forward attempted to latch onto a low centre. Carter then showed some neat footwork before attempting a lob which landed on the roof of the net.

The pressure paid off with 14 minutes remaining on the clock. Ben Tyler, who had only just come onto the pitch as a substitute, broke down the left channel and his low centre was sliced by the otherwise assured Oneal Rowe and Jake Gill rifled the ball into the roof of the net from 15 yards.

United continued to struggle as Carter headed a free kick straight at Wootton, and the keeper then recovered from a mishit clearance to close down the on rushing Tyler. It wasn't to change the outcome, however, as time ran out on United to preserve their unbeaten league record.
